are these alcohol withdrawal symptoms?
i dont usually drink that much, i did during the weekends in the summer but once school started only about 2 or 3 times. since i came home for the winter though, i’ve been drinking a lot with friends and i did wed, friday, and last night. i think i should stop drinking at all because when i drink with my friends, we drank pretty heavily and the last thing i want is to become an alcoholic. when i woke this morning i thought i was hungover but i’ve never been hungover like this before. i dont know if it could be the flu or withdrawal symptoms but could i become an alcoholic after a few nights of drinking even though i did it every weekend in the past?? i feel soooo crappy and walking up the stairs makes me want to faint and im really clammy and sweaty and finding it difficult to think clearly or move without feeling nauseous. i considered if a bit of alcohol would make me feel better but……i dont know it seems stupid.

alcohol poisoning? or just a bad hang over.
It is hard to accurately answer your questions since I don’t personally know you, but I’ll give you some information on what I do know.
I went through a phase in my life where for 4 months (a semester) I drank nearly 4/7 days. Like you, I drank very heavily with my friends. To be honest, a normal night would consist of:
Chugging a bottle of wine (each)
1 or 2 shots of vodka, rum, or whiskey
A *very* heavy long island iced tea
Another cocktail
Glass of beer
More shots throughout the night
*Sometimes, I would even get into some smoking (you know what I mean)
Quite frankly, that sounds like I was already a substance abuser. I mean, this was literally on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and we’d go a littler lighter on Sundays.
Do I think I am an alcoholic? No. After the semester (during winter break) I completely stopped everything cold turkey. Did I have withdrawals? No. I mean, I missed having fun *all* the time and all the funny stuff that happened, but I wasn’t in need of any substance. I wasn’t using alcohol as a way to deal with problems – I was using it as a way to just have a good time and I thought it was funny, waking up the next morning, with hilarious stories and pictures.
Therefore, what you’re experiencing is probably a typical hangover. Different alcoholic drinks will give you different types of hangovers (also depending on the amount). Also, you might just need to take a break and detox. Alcohol IS damaging to your liver and many other problems with the body; however, it’s really your choice if you consider it a *big* problem or not.
Did I go back the next semester and party as much as I did prior? No. I cut back dramatically, and have no alcohol dependency issues. To find the true answers, you should ask yourself if you’re using the alcohol as the *only* way to have fun. If you find that you can’t enjoy life unless you’re drunk, then you may be facing many issues and should immediately seek therapy. Other than that, and the detrimental effects it has on your body, you could be fine.
First of all, you’re hung over, which is withdrawal from alcohol. DON’T drink any more.
Alcohol is broken down into certain toxins, and this is what’s making you sick. Those toxins will be further broken down; this just takes time. Drinking more will just start the cycle over again.
Alcohol depletes your body of water and nutrients – it’s a diuretic. The first thing you should do is to drink plenty of water – drink it a sip at a time – and take some multivitamins to replace what you’ve lost. Your blood sugar may have dropped, so one of those sports drinks might help – but don’t guzzle it. Just take it easy, try to get some rest. Going for a slow, short stroll might help get your blood moving a little better, if you can take that.
Avoid coffee or real tea, they have caffeine, which is another diuretic. You want to replace the water, not lose more
Another important thing to do is have something light to eat – even if it’s only some chicken soup.
The only other thing that is going to fix this is time.
You seem quite young, so a pattern of drinking like that isn’t good. You need to slow down, or stop drinking completely. Maybe this is a wake-up call.
“faint and im really clammy and sweaty and finding it difficult to think clearly or move without feeling nauseous.” sounds like mild withdrawal. I have had this MANY times unfortunately. It’s anxiety/withdrawal and perfectly normal side-effects. It may take a few days but you will start feeling better. If it would put your mind at rest try having a drink ot two and if it makes it all but go away thats all it is. It’s better to stick to 1 or maybe 2 nights of drinking a week max.
