my younger brother is rude and just plain mean to myself
and my parents yet nice to everyone else on earth.

he is a “dry” alcoholic that has all the traits minus consumption
and has been treated rudely and abruptly by people he has
worked for in the past.

he now has his own business which my parents set up and financed
for him and they and now i still do a lot of work for him at no charge.
the way things have evolved he has us do more and more things
doing less and less himself unless it involves his friends from the
tavern.
he orders us around and never says please, thank you, or shows
any courtesy and blames us for all of his problems as he is in denial
of his alcoholism and all of the negative bevior issues that we add to
be enabling him to shift all responsibilities to us and he routinely
calls us up at the last minute and rushes us to do something that
need done right away because he failed to do his part and a
deadline has arrived

my dad mentally abuses my family?

please help. my dad is always drunk and spews racist nazi like words. he is always angry about nothing, claims to be cheating on my mom, had physically abused my mom, putting a gun to her head, and has countlessly cornered us into a room and screamed at us. i am old enough to fight back and desperately want to. please anybody, syggestions? and please no clichès like talking. hes had numerous interventions for his alcoholism and for his mistreatment of me my sisters and my mom.

My best friend has decided to kick his bad habit of drinking. He was drinking a 12 pack per day (3.2 % beer). He is now drinking either 1 or 2 beers per day but is having terrible withdrawal symptoms. He is shaking constantly and has a continual headache and is unable to sleep. Occasionally, he will break into a sweat. He wants to see a doctor and I have looked for alcohol treatment places in our area but the majority of them only provide counseling. He feels that he would benefit from counseling services but was also wanting to be prescribed medication to deal with withdrawal symptoms and something to combat cravings. Can a family practice physician treat this or does he need to go somewhere else? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
My main question is what type of doctor should he see…..family, psychiatrist, etc.
